摘要

A method was developed to convert data from a CAD drawing into a finite-element program input file. In the report MEDUSA is the CAD program used to generate the drawing data base, containing the geometrical data to be converted into a GIFTS finite-element input file. The GIFTS (Graphical Interactive Finite-element Total System) program, used in the report, consists of a number of separate modules using a common data base. The program can be used for linear finite-element analysis (static, dynamic, transient response, heat conductivity) and has a number of modules specially for pre- and post-processing. The pre-processing modules for 3-dimensional shell models are called BULKM and EDITM. These two pre-processors work on different levels. BULKM is used to define a finite-element model geometry based upon key-points, lines and grids. The graphical representation of the model is in the form of a wire model plot. The EDITM module is used to define the model geometry based upon nodal points and individual elements. Besides converting the data base of the drawing into a finite-element input file, the possible grids are automatically defined based upon the connectivity of the lines on the drawing.
