Narrow lines were observed around 133 MeV excitation energy in the (sup 208)Pb(d, (sup 3)He) reaction at T(sub d)=300 MeV/u using the fragment separator system at GSI. They are assigned to the deeply bound (pi)(sup -) x (sup 207)Pb states with configurations of (2p)(sub (pi)(sup -))(3p(sub 1/2), 3p(sub 3/2))(sub n)(sup -1). (orig.)
