Utilization of Redundancy Reduction System with Zero-Order Predictor for Study of Episodic Processes

A redundancy reduction device is described enabling onboard data compression for individual satellite-borne experiments, and especially for registration of solar radii bursts with duration of less than 0.5 sec. In the most simple technique of redundancy reduction, the zero-order predictor, is used. Data is sampled in 1/8 sec intervals. A specification of the frame structure is given, and frame synchronization is discussed. A block diagram of the redundancy reduction device is shown, and its mission operation is reported.
