Partial Results on CDS Solar Cells . Resultats Partiels sur les Cellules Solaires au CDS

摘要

The reliability of Kapton-covered, cadcells was analyzed. Two series of long duration tests were carried out. The first included measurements of the ionizing particle effect on cells to predict their performance in aerospace environments; the second was done in an environmental chamber simulating a 300 mb terrestrial atmosphere. It was shown that, compared with silicon solar cells, the cadmium sulfide cell offers better resistance to higher irradiation energies in a space environment. In addition, the cell is suitable for long term atmospheric balloon flight applications. (Author)
