This work has a direct application to the transient lunar phenomena that have been reported by many observers. These lunar effects appear as obscurations of lunar features or as flashes of light during the lunar night. It has been suggested that the obscuration effects are due to gases leaking from freshly fractured rock while the light emission occurs when electrons, from the fractured rock, ionize the gases. In-vestigation of this phenomena is continuing.
