The analysis of storage requirements for optimal utilization of solar-derived energy systems and the total cost of the resulting generator/storage system are often evaluated in such studies. The purpose of the SIMWEST (Simulation Model for Wind Energy Storage) program described in this document is to provide a tool for performing this needed analysis. It is a tool to aid in the design of a wind or solar-photovoltaic energy system for a given application and to allow the resulting system to be evaluated and verified through simulation.
