A vacuum hot pressing technique was developed for the fabrication of slip ring brush material consisting of 10, 7.5 and 5W/o MOS2 dispersions in an Ag-3.0W/o CU matrix. The densities (96-97%) theoretically obtained with the new mixtures were slightly lower than those reached in previous work. Microstructural investigation revealed the MOS2 to be predominantly distributed at the grain boundaries by with incomplete coverage at the lowest sulphide loading. There was a definite pressing texture but also some evidence that the pressing parameters might be near a limit beyond which rapid grain growth in the metal matrix would take place. A processing procedure for the production of slip ring brush material was written.
