The theoretical background, the experimental procedures, and the results of the in situ method for measuring sodium aerosol granulometry are discussed. This laser spectroscopy technique utilizes the correlation functions of light intensity fluctuations caused by the Brownian motion of sodium aerosols to determine aerosol granulometry and diffusion coefficient. The PAVANA test rig was used to conduct experiments with sodium aerosols at temperatures ranging from 100 C to 300 C and 360 l/hr flowrate, average diameter and dispersion factor found to be 3 microns and 0.37 respectively.
