Refined Theory for Bending of Perforated Plates

A theoretical analysis and numerical results are presented for bending and torsion of thin perforated plates with a regular pattern of equal and equally spaced circular holes. Similar results were obtained for plane strain and generalized plane stress conditions, they are approximate solutions for bending and torsion of very thick plates. Significant differences in stress concentration factors and effective elastic constants in bending of thin and thick plates, make it of practical interest to know more accurately the transition between these two limit cases.
