Investigations Relating to the Simultaneous Use of Combined Optical Adaptive Techniques (COAT) and Angle-Tracking

Combined application of coherent optical adaptive techniques (COAT) and angle tracking was investigated. The control signals for the adaptive optics were deduced by calculating the diffraction figures with two dephased waves. The calculations were carried out for a two-segment mirror while qualitative data were worked out for a four-segment mirror. Experiments were made with a five-segment mirror which in fact is a four-segment COAT mirror because of the securing of the center segment. It is shown that theoretical considerations and experimental results coincide for mirror positions.
