Array Processor with Emulator (APE) Project: A Computer for Lattice QCD (Quantum Chromodynamics)

摘要

A single instruction multiple data computer for studying lattice QCD is proposed. Although it can be used as a general purpose array processor controlled by the 3081/E, the hardware is optimized for lattice QCD. The theoretical speed is 1 Giga-Flop, i.e., 6 or 7 times faster than the Cray 1, and the memory can be expanded up to 0.5 Giga-byte.
