摘要

A parallel-plate plastometer for the compression testing of ceramic bodies is presented. The upper plate of the machine is moved down with constant velocity by an electromotor. The compression is registered by an inductive displacement transducer and a load cell. The results of measurements on series of ceramic materials are shown as a function of deformation rate and moisture content. The stress-strain curves start with a steep increase of stress for small compression, going into a more flat increase, and end in a stress decrease which is interpreted as the development of slip planes, leading to cracks. All characteristic values decrease with increasing water content, except at the start of cracks. In general the required water content rises with the fineness of the material and the fraction of plastic components.
