Convergence Analysis of One-Step Schemes in the Method of Lines

Fundamental results concerning the analysis of one-step schemes for semidiscretizations of evolutionary problems in partial differential equations are exposed. The interplay between the stability and convergence properties of the fully discrete scheme and those of the ordinary differential equations solver is emphasized. Order reduction is treated.
