Programmierbares Gesamtsystem Zur Manipulation von Restwertzahlen (Programmable Global System for the Manipulation of Residue Numbers)

A programmable system for the arithmetic of residual classes was developed in order to determine obtainable calculation times in a real complete system for digital signal processing. Considerations and methods for the manipulation and conversion of residue numbers are discussed with respect to their characteristics and the required hardware. The manipulation and conversion methods were implemented using the following hardware components: an arithmetic unit, a binary-to-residue converter, a residue-to-binary converter, a residue-to-analog converter, and an analog-to-residue converter. A microprogrammable control system allows the coordination of hardware component functions, signal flow, and data flow. A processor system permits the development and testing of micro, system, test, and user programs. The obtained computer times are illustrated by a digital, nonrecursive third-order filter.
