摘要

The propagation behavior of converging, weak to moderately strong, arbitrarily curved shock waves was investigated by generalizing the method of Obermeier for quasi-plane shock waves. A modified method of perturbation of coordinates allows reduction of the solution of the flow potential nonlinear differential wave equation to that of a linear set of equations for the perturbation functions. The solutions for strongly curved shock waves can only be obtained numerically and with high computation time. Therefore, the linear, homogeneous wave equation for a quasi-plane shock wave with Gaussian shock geometry and approximately temporal pressure profile was numerically integrated as an illustration. The resulting temporal evolution of the shock geometry agrees qualitatively very well with experimental results.
