Mediterranean-Alpine Experiment (MED-ALPEX) Data Set

Data on the interaction of the Mediterranean sea with the atmosphere and, in particular, the role of sea in the development of the atmospheric processes including those of cyclogenesis were collected. The data center compiled on magnetic tapes data from 2000 oceanographic stations in format GF-3. The data set contains information on temperature, salinity, and hydrochemical characteristics (oxygen, alkali, silicon, pH), from which can be determined detailed characteristics of hydrological fields and conditions of water mass, especially in the Adriatic Sea and the Algerian-Provencal basin. However, the incompleteness of data does not allow analysis of the seasonal variability of hydrological processes in a number of western and north-western areas of the Mediterranean.
