An experimental investigation was carried out with 2-dimensional, initially laminar wall jets, both statistically and in a uniform flow. Transition was quantified in the augmented flow (free stream plus jet), and the effects of uniform flow and slot height on transition was measured. A suitable definition for transition of the static wall jet was desired. The experimental static wall jet mean velocity profiles were found to be in good agreement with previously developed theories and experiments for both the laminar and turbulent regimes. Experiments with the augmented flow revealed a delay in jet transition relative to the static wall jet.
