Conception and Discussion of a Model Describing Ice Formation on Various Obstacles

A development of the Bain-Lozowski ice formation model is presented. It takes into account the ice density in the local thickness of the deposit and investigates the aerodynamic and thermal aspects of the problem. The numerical model was tested in the wind tunnel. The validity is confirmed, showing the capability to predict the arrowhead ice forms commonly obtained for long exposure times.
