Direct Broadcast Satellites: A Competitive Alternative to Cable Television

摘要

An economic and engineering analysis of direct broadcast satellites' prospectsfor competing with cable television systems in the United States is presented. Other multichannel television alternatives to cable are briefly examined to assess the likelihood of competition from other directions. From this analysis, a number of issues relating to public policy are addressed.
