Requirements document for the Input Processing System

摘要

This is the Functional Requirements Document for the Input Processing System (IPS) to be implemented at the NASA Center for AeroSpace Information (CASI). This document contains the functional requirements that will guide the design phases of the project. Developers and testers of the system will utilize this document to verify that the developed IPS system meets the functional requirements as determined by the mission staff and management. It is our goal to develop a new system using the prototyping tools available in the new client-server environment at CASI. The new system will be 'open', to allow for greater expandability and interfacing with other systems and software products. The new system will also be designed to allow CASI personnel to configure and modify the system without the need for programmer intervention. This document details the functional requirements for the IPS system that will utilize the new data elements developed for the BASISplus retrieval engine. It will provide a mechanism to input and verify hardcopy and electronic records into the BASISplus system in order to verify the accuracy of the bibliogaphic data being entered.
