A Method of Designing Corner Channels and Cascades on a Hyperbolic Base-line

A new method is presented for the design of two-dimensional corner channels and thence, by the method of Ref. 1, of cascade aerofoils. It is analogous to that of Tsien2 for axially symmetric contraction cones.nIt makes use of an elliptic co-ordinate system (ξ, η), and consists in placing an arbitrary "velocity" distribution f0(ξ) on a base line which is the hyperbola η =η0.nThese expressions assume a simple form if f0(ξ) is suitably chosen and permit rapid evaluation. A cascade aerofoil designed by this method is presented.
