Report on the Accident to AVRO 748 G-ASPL at Leeds/Bradford Airport on 25th March, 1965

(i) The crew were properly licensedn(ii) The aircraft was airworthy and correctly loaded.n(iii) After initial touchdown, the aircraft left the ground just after ground fine pitch had been selected.n(iv) The aircraft landed heavily on its nosewheels as the result of ground fine pitch being achieved as it became airborne again;this resulted in overstressing of the nose undercarriage.n(v) There was no defect in design or material.n(vi) Gusting wind conditions during the landing contributed to the accident.n(vii) Safety facilities were established at the aerodrome and manned in accordance with requirements.
