TRIBOLOGY OF ROUGH SURFACES Stochastic Models of Hydrodynamic Lubrication

This report deals with hydrodynamic aspects of rough bearing surfaces. On the basis of stochastic theory three different forms of Reynolds equation corresponding to three different types of surface roughness has been described.nIt is shown that the mathematical form of these equations is similar but not identical to the form of the Reynolds equation governing the behaviour of smooth, deterministic surfaces.
