Previously, the proposers have delivered to ARM a documented algorithm, that is211u001enow applied operationally, and which derives water vapor profiles from combined 211u001eremote sensor measurements of water vapor radiometers, cloud-base ceilometers, 211u001eand radio acoustic sounding systems (RASS). With the expanded deployment of a 211u001eRaman lidar at the CART Central Facility, high quality, high vertical-resolution, 211u001ewater vapor profiles will be provided during nighttime clear conditions, and 211u001eduring clear daytime conditions, to somewhat lower altitudes. The object of this 211u001eproposal was to use Kalman Filtering, previously applied to the combination of 211u001enighttime Raman lidar and microwave radiometer data, to derive high-quality water 211u001evapor profiles, during non-precipitating conditions, from data routinely 211u001eavailable at the CART site. Input data to the algorithm would include: Raman 211u001elidar data, highly quality-controlled data of integrated moisture from microwave 211u001eradiometers and GPS, RASS, and radiosondes. The algorithm will include recently-211u001edeveloped quality control procedures for radiometers. The focus of this years 211u001eactivities has been on the intercomparison of data obtained during an intensive 211u001eoperating period at the SGP CART site in central Oklahoma.
