摘要

A collaborative project to continue our studies of the effect of fracture surface211u001einterference on the driving force for shear crack growth is proposed. 211u001eSpecifically, we will use in situ. phase shifted speckle interferometry 211u001etechniques to measure the displacement field around a Mode I fatigue pre-crack 211u001eloaded in shear as a function of load. The effective Mode II stress intensity 211u001efactor and the induced Mode I stress intensity factor will be determined by 211u001efitting the displacement fields to near tip analytical expressions. The crack 211u001eface shear and normal traction distribution will be estimated by using the 211u001eexperimentally observed crack face displacement as boundary conditions to 211u001eboundary element and finite element models of the specimen.
