Hybrid Blends of Non-Traditional Safety and Reliability Analysis Tools

Traditional safety and reliability analysis methods are applicable to many211u001estandard problems, including those examples illustrated in most formal courses. 211u001eHowever, there are many real-world situations for which non-traditional methods 211u001eappear to be more appropriate, mainly because most practical problems involve 211u001esubstantial subjectivity about the inputs and models used. This paper surveys 211u001esome of the most applicable approaches found in a recent research study. Each 211u001eapproach is developed individually and is illuminated by selecting example 211u001esituations of apparent applicability. Then, the combinational blending of the 211u001eapproaches with each other and with traditional methodology is discussed.
