An improved automatic potentiometric titrator is described in which the piston of a syringe-type burette is driven by a stepping motor. An Agla micro-burette is used for volumes up to 0.5 ml, and a Kontes burette is employed for volumes between 0.5 and 2.5 ml. A total of 25,000 impulses to the stepping motor is needed to displace the full volume of solution from each burette, and an accurate measure of the volume Of titrant delivered at any instant can be obtained from the number of input pulses that are counted electronically. The speed of the stepping motor can be adjusted so that the delivery of the full volume takes place in a time interval between 2 and 35 minutes.
