摘要

Sodium and potassium nitrates pose problems in fluidized-bed calcination;the large temperature range over which the nitrates exist in the molten- undecomposed state make the fluidized-bed prone to agglomeration. Differential thermal analyses combined with X-ray diffraction were used to scope methods for lowering the decomposition temperature of sodium and potassium nitrates in wastes. The decomposition temperature of sodium nitrate in wastes can be lowered effectively by adding alumina, aluminum nitrate, sulfuric acid, ammonium sulfate, or magnesium sulfate. The same reagents are potential reagents for lowering the decomposition temperature of potassium nitrate in wastes.
