摘要

The infrared spectra of nickel fluoride and nickel chloride isolated in matrices doped with CO, N2, NO and 02 have been observed. Complexes of NiF2 and NiCl2 with these small molecules are found to form in the matrix and their frequencies have been tabulated. The results indicate that these complexes may be formulated in terms of a bonding between the small molecule and nickel halide with little or no ir backbonding. Evidence for a D2, planar fluoride bridged dimer structure for the nickel fluoride dimer is also given.
