The proposed plan for meeting electrical requirements consists of the construction of a new substation near the town of Sappho located in Clallam County, Washington. Land requirements for the new substation would be approximately 3.6 acres and, depending upon the actual site location chosen, an access road ranging from 100 to 800 feet in length would also be required. As a result of the construction of the proposed facility, from 1.6 to 6 acres of timberland would be permanently removed from production. Disturbance of game in the immediate vicinity of the route would occur during construction, as would some soil erosion primarily during and immediately after construction, siltation in nearby streams, disturbance of nearby residents from noise and dust during construction, and some degradation of AM reception immediately adjacent to the right-of-way. 2 figs.
