Laboratory tests were made to evaluate the corrosion resistance of unalloyed beryllium and anodized beryllium in demineralized and tap water solutions, silver-brazed beryllium in pure and water-contaminated methyl alcohol solutions, and galvanic couples of copper, brass, and aluminum to beryllium embedded in hydrated gypsum molds.nComparison of corrosion resistance results show that anodized beryllium is superior to unalloyed beryllium, that the corrosion of silver-brazed beryllium is a result of galvanic action, and that appreciable galvanic corrosion of beryllium occurs when it is coupled to a dissimilar metal in a hydrated gypsum mold.
