STATUS OF ENDANGERED AND THREATENED PLANT SPECIES ON NEVADA TEST SITE -A SURVEY PART 1:ENDANGERED SPECIES

Eight species which occur on NTS and one which occurs just outside the west boundary have been suggested by the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) as endangered plants in Nevada under the Endangered Species Act of 1973. This sur¬vey provides a basis for suggesting that seven of the nine species remain as candidates for the endangered status, and that two be removed to the threatened status. We also suggest two species for the Similarity of Appearance status (S/A) when these occur within the critical habitats of the endangered species candidates they closely resemble.nEngineering and construction activities are the most serious threat to plant species on NTS, and off-road activities are second in importance.
