The purpose of this section is to briefly review recent literature on the thermodynamics and kinetics of the reaction of H2S with limestone and dolomite in order to evaluate the feasibility of such a hot-gas cleanup concept for combined gasifier/fuel cell plants. Since there is now considerable evi¬dence that the reactivity of a given type of stone is primarily governed by the properties of its calcined form, some representative papers on the calcina¬tion of limestone and dolomite and reactivity of the products will also be described.
