Vast reservoirs of geopressured geothermal energy exist in Louisiana which present opportunities for development as energy sources in the form of hydro-energy, geothermal energy and natural gas.nThe hydro energy may be harnessed within impulse turbines for mechanical drives or for electrical generation.nThe geothermal energy can be applied as hot water to a variety of food processing operations.nApplications for the natural gas content as a fuel are obvious.nThe cost for development of these resources will exceed current cost experience in the development of hydrocarbon energy resources.nTransmission distances for the fluid geothermal waters to points of utilization are restricted by economics.nPlant thermal apparatus will be larger and more expensive than conventional equipment.nin projection, the most promising non-electric application of geopressured geothermal energy to a food processing operation would first require the evaluation of a specific reservoir by drilling and testing a geopressured geothermal wel1 to furnish energy to a plant which had been designed expressly to utilize the available energy at or near the well site.
