This report is a preliminary version of material assembled for insertion in the Sourcebook on the Production of Electricity from Geothermal Energy currently being composed under ERDA (now DOE). An attempt has been made to develop the theory of the geothermal well in an ordered stepwise manner beginning from the three basic continuities and introducing each new idea systematically.
