EVALUATION OF ALTERNATIVES FOR THE FUTURE OF FACILITIES AT THE WESTERN NEW YORK NUCLEAR SERVICE CENTER

The objective of the study was to provide assistance to ANL in the preparation of a report for Congress. Dames & Moore was to;n- Provide the relevant data base, and evaluate the primary compara¬tive factors (approach, impacts, benefits, and costs) for each option defined for the State-licensed and NRC-licensed waste burial areas, and the low-level waste treatment facilities, in sufficient detail to permit ANL to compare the viability of the alternativesn- Enunciate the existing body of, and anticipated charges to, regulations governing the West Valley facilities.n- Provide data defining the site and regional characteristics for use both in the evaluation of alternatives which we are studying and in future evaluations.n- Provide an analyzed compilation of environmental monitoring data that establishes the current radiological impacts from the site.
