The U.S. DOE program in in-situ coal gasification has been reviewed and analyzed by a DOE consultant from the United Kingdom. Detailed recommendations are made with respect to reconsideration and modification of certain programs,but most projects are considered acceptable,with comments mainly with respect to control of water influx (water removal by pumps is recommended for water control) and operating pressure (pressures of the order of 10psi above atmospheric are recommended).
