The effects of Fe exp 3+ ,Cr exp 3+ ,Ni exp 2+ ,and Mn exp 2+on decomposition of 15% solutions of hydrogen peroxide in water have been studied. The ions Ni exp 2+and Mn exp 2+are ineffective in promoting decomposition,but Fe exp 3+and Cr exp 3+lead to significant decomposition at concentrations of 10parts per million or greater. Additionally,it was learned that stainless-steel and nickel-plated stainless-steel beakers have no effect on decomposition rates. (ERA citation 04:027335)
