Septum Magnet Coil Design Principles

A guide is presented for the design of the coils of septum magnets using the computer program TRIM. A method is described that eliminated the trial and error procedure and produces a coil design in only 2 TRIM calculations. The first TRIM calculation determines the position of the ampere turns to drive the yoke. The second TRIM calculation verifies the coil design. (ERA citation 04:039445)
