摘要

Fuel-rod simulator cladding temperatures in the CFTL experiments will be determined using 0.5 mm diameter sheathed thermocouples attached to the inner walls of the simulators. A detailed analysis of the potential sources of errors in these temperature measurements determined that insufficient information existed about the characteristics of these small diameter thermocouple materials, especially above 800°C. It was found that performance data available on larger diameter thermocouples cannot be extrapolated to predict the behavior of small diameter sheathed thermocouples, nor can the data available from lower temperatures be extrapolated to higher temperatures.
