Commercial Waste and Spent Fuel Packaging Program. Package Design Criteria

A preliminary set of package design guidelines is presented which should represent a useful starting point for establishing a system mutually acceptable to all people in the waste management system. Among the design parameters covered are package weight, dimensions, overpack, design life, internal pressure, design basis accident, leach rate, criticality, heat flux, surface dose rate, decontamination, licensability, and labeling.
