摘要

This report is a brief review of the uranium and/or vanadium mining in the northern and western Carrizo Mountains in Arizona, and deals only with historical production data. The location of the mines and the production are shown in figures and also tabulated. Fifty-eight properties in the northern and western Carrizo Mountains have produced 73,035 tons of ore containing 306,877 pounds U sub 3 O sub 8 averaging 0.21% U sub 3 O sub 8 since 1948. In addition, these ores contained 2,388,696 pounds V sub 2 O sub 5 averaging 1.64% V sub 2 O sub 5 . It is interesting to note that two areas contained about three-fourths of the total uranium produced in the northern and western Carrizo Mountains. Some 168,303 pounds or 55% of the total came from mines on Cove Mesa, a small isolated mesa with an areal extent of 0.76 square miles. In the Saytah Wash area, Plot 6, Black Rock Point, Pope and Hoskie Henry Mines, an area of 0.19 square miles, produced at least 65,000 pounds U sub 3 O sub 8 , amounting to 21% of the total.
