Decision Process for the Retrofit of Municipal Buildings with Solar-Energy Systems: A Technical Guide

An analytical procedure is provided to define the likely benefits and costs associated with solar energy systems in public buildings. The solar retrofit decision is put into a practical framework by providing guidance on implementation, an awareness of possible problem areas, and a guide to predicting system costs. The background of solar applications is presented for those unfamiliar with solar energy. A chronological analytical procedure is then provided for examining a city's buildings, and two sample Los Angeles buildings are analyzed using the methodology. (ERA citation 07:053424)
