Five electrochemical test programs were completed to investigate the effects of thermal treatment, environmental variations and stress on the corrosion resistance of INCONEL alloys 600 and 690 in PWR related dilute caustic environments in the temperature range between 260 to 316 exp 0 C. Several of the tested specimens were selected to characterize the corrosion product surface scales. The fundamental electrochemical corrosion behavior of these systems is described and a possible mechanism of surface scale formation is discussed. One test program was conducted to investigate the stress corrosion resistance of INCONEL alloys 600 and 690 in recirculated water containing 0.2 ppM oxygen at 289 exp 0 C. In addition to stress corrosion test results, the effects of dissolved oxygen on the corrosion potential are presented. (ERA citation 06:030555)
