Mental Health Services for the Elderly: Planning and Program Development

摘要

The report presents findings from a technical assistance project on health and aging. Four mental health centers, located in the midwest, participated. The paper covers five major topics: review of literature on mental health and aging; overview of the consultation project; description of the consultation experience including coverage of a sample of mental health programs for the elderly inRegion VII, common problems that were found in these programs, and how these problems affect the development and implementation process; impact of the consultation project on the services provided to elderly clients by the sample mental health centers; and, recommendations related to the development and implementation of mental health programs for the elderly within mental health centers and state agencies.
