The PROPANE formulaire is a method and data system to be used for fast reactor shielding design calculations. PROPANE has been validated and adjusted for sodium/steel configurations, typical of the Super Phenix, pool-type, shield design, and it is been validated and ajusted to meet the requirements of future LMFBR shield design. In particular new materials (natural B sub 4 C and special stainless steels) and new shield configurations (e.g. localized shields) are experimentally studied. Finally, streaming effect calculations will be validated with an experimental program, to enlarge the scope of PROPANE. 9 references. (ERA citation 10:002266)
