Evaluation of Some Photovoltaic Concentrator Solar Cell-Heat Sink Coupling Materials

This report describes the results of a number of measurements on materials being considered for use as bonding agents between concentrator solar cells and the heat sink. The ultrasound technique for detecting voids and delamination and some of the results of measurements using the technique are described. The thermal conductivity of candidate semi-rigid bonding agents is also summarized. Particle size, material, and bonding agents analyses of some of these materials are also described. Finally, results of analyses of three types of high thermal conductivity greases are given. (ERA citation 09:039867)
