Lithium-Metal Sulfide Battery Development and Submodule Demonstration

A program has been initiated by the Electric Power Research Institute to examine the feasibility of using the Li-alloy/FeS battery for electric-vehicle propulsion. In the first phase of the program, a joint effort between Argonne National Laboratory and Gould Research Center resulted in the design, fabrication, and testing of two full-scale 12-V modules and related battery components at Argonne National Battery Test Laboratory. The design of the module and battery components was based upon a van battery design study supported by the US Department of Energy. (ERA citation 12:025173)
