User's Manual for ''FAST'' (Fracturing and Simultaneous Transport) Hydrofracture Code

FAST (Fracturing and Simultaneous Transport) is a computer code which calculates the speed and extent of hydraulically driven fractures based on a two-dimensional model of solid deformation coupled with a one-dimensional model of fluid flow along a permeable-walled crack. The purpose of the code is to provide engineering accuracy and modular flexibility with a moderate expenditure of set-up time and computer resources. This User's Manual includes a description of the mathematical model and its numerical implementation, along with an explanation of required inputs and operating procedures. Also included is a listing of the source code along with the input files which are used to run a series of test calculations which are compared with available analytical results. 14 refs., 12 figs.
