Safety Evaluation Report Related to the Restart of Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1, Following the Event of June 9, 1985, Docket No. 50-346, Toledo Edison Company

On June 9, 1985, the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station experienced a partial loss of main feedwater while at 90% power. Following a reactor trip, other malfunctions and operator errors led to a total loss of feedwater for a short period. Before operators were able to restore feedwater, both steam generators boiled dry. This report presents the staff's evaluation of the corrective actions taken by the licensee to prevent recurrence and to improve overall performance of Davis-Besse with respect to safety. The Safety Evaluation supports the restart of the facility.
